…or three reasons why time on Kopaonik is a MUST this year
“Winter is coming, and with it the magic of winter. What we especially love about this season is that we can finally enjoy our favourite mountains.”
Yes, this is exactly how the introduction and invitation to a winter holiday would have looked just a year ago. However, 2020 took us all by surprise and brought many challenges, obstacles and unexpected situations. There is no need to say more, since we are practically constantly exposed to recommendations and restrictions because of the current pandemic.
If you are wondering how you will go on a winter holiday this year given the new situation, the answer is quite simple – easily
Now, more than in previous years, it is important to take care of your health and the health of your loved ones and to work on strengthening your immunity. And one of the best allies for that is an active stay in the mountains.
Although many people think of the mountains as a place for a slightly more active holiday, they are much more than that.
Why it matters to go on a winter holiday THIS year in particular:

1. The mountains boost your immunity
Good immunity doesn't come on its own – you have to work for it. A strong immune system requires a good diet with enough vitamins and minerals, physical activity and as little exposure to stress as possible.
Fresh mountain air, which can't even be compared with polluted city air, has a very beneficial effect on your overall health.
Mountain air heals both body and soul. Your immunity will get stronger, your blood count will improve, your lungs will rejoice, and overall you will feel good.
Just a few days in the mountains can neutralise the stress that has been building up in your body for months.
After a stay in the mountains you will be in a better mood and full of energy. That is what the mountains will give you unselfishly – and what you can do is forget about your phone while on holiday and see for yourself how much good that experience alone will do you.
In the mountains you are also closer to the sun than anywhere else in our country in winter. And since these months bring too little sunshine and vitamin D, the mountains provide these sources of vitality.
When outdoors, don't forget to use proper eye protection and a face cream with SPF, because if you aren't careful you can get more sunburnt than at the seaside!
And of course, the fresh mountain air will give you an appetite, so you'll take in all the vitamins and minerals you need – through healthy local specialities.

2. The mountains get you moving
In the city in winter people are sedentary and often don't feel like leaving their warm homes. In the mountains the opposite happens: you'll want to go outside and enjoy nature and the fresh air. And, very importantly, because of the cold, you'll feel the need to move.
There is no better place to be physically active in winter than the mountains. Besides getting moving and strengthening your immunity, you'll have the chance to enjoy winter sports and new adventures and experience the other delights of an active mountain stay.
Skiing and snowboarding will shake you up, improve your fitness and help your coordination.
However, because of the current situation, some modified rules that are important to follow now apply in the mountains too; we'll talk about them in another post.
What is also important is that these rules, if properly followed, do not stop you from enjoying the charms of the mountains.

3. Kopaonik – a mountain that restores you
The third reason why it matters to go on a winter holiday this year is Kopaonik itself – one of our most beautiful and best-known mountains. The air there cannot be compared with any other place in our country, and every stay is a unique and different experience.
Dense coniferous forests accompany you while you ski or snowboard on first-class ski slopes and keep you company on gentle walks.
What Kopaonik brings in particular is peace – something many places no longer have.
Besides its many activities, the mountain is also ideal for anyone who needs quiet and a real break from the fast pace and stress of city life.
Idyllic snowy landscapes, beautiful forests and clean air will revive you and fill you with positive energy.
In conclusion…
Don't let yourself fall into hibernation, because you'll get absolutely nothing out of it. An active winter in the mountains, on the other hand, can give you a lot: better fitness, better health, stronger immunity and an overall better state of body and mind.
